Facelift Procedure: Achieve a Less Tired & Rejuvenated Appearance

A facelift (also known as rhytidectomy) is a cosmetic surgery designed to lift and tighten the facial skin and the underlying layers above the muscles known as SMAS, helping you achieve a smoother, less tired younger-looking face.

As we age, the skin above the facial muscles begins to lose its elasticity and firmness, which contributes to an aged appearance. In addition, factors like gravity, sun exposure, and stress can exacerbate these effects, causing deepening folds, sagging at the sides of the mouth, and loosening skin on the neck and jawline.

Fine wrinkles often appear around the outer eye area and lips, marking the first signs of skin aging. The rate at which these signs develop varies from person to person. A facelift can help reverse these visible signs of aging, leaving you looking younger and feeling more confident.

What to Expect from a Facelift

A facelift is typically performed under general anaesthesia, however, is some patients and certain limited procedures the surgery can be performed under local anaesthetic. After the procedure, you will need to stay in the hospital for 1 night for monitoring, and some postoperative recovery time is required.

Initially, you may feel some stiffness and notice swelling, but after about 2-3 weeks, most patients can resume social activities and work. While there will be some scarring, these are often well-hidden in natural creases and along the hairline, making them less noticeable.

In some cases, supplementary treatments may be recommended to enhance the overall outcome of the facelift, ensuring a more natural and youthful appearance. For more details on potential additional treatments, information can be provided during your consultation.
